Sigrún Lára’s care is time consuming and costly, and has placed immense pressure on our family. Phoebe can’t work for the forseeable future, and often has to spend all week at the hospital. There is very little in the way of benefits for Sigrún Lára’s illness, and we have therefore taken quite a financial hit.
Luckily, we are truly blessed with wonderful family and friends, who have given us immeasurable support, both emotional and practical. People have helped us in many different ways - cooking for us, picking Kári up from nursery, going out for a drink, giving us treats, joining together to make a patchwork quilt, and much more.
A number of family and friends have set up sponsored events, activities and so on, which are posted on this site. The money raised will help us pay for her care and the many expenses involved in it – and maybe some things to make life more bearable, such as visits to London Zoo for Kári, and the odd night out for the parents. A proportion will also be donated to the Rainbow Trust Children’s Charity and CLIC Sargent.
